فلمّا أذّن المؤذن للجهاد وذهبنا لملاقاة العدو إذا بي أولي دبري هاربًا مع صوت الرصاص والمدافع.. وحزنت لنفسي كثيرًا كيف أنا العالِم الكبير أهرب مع أول مواجهه ويفتّ في عضدي كل ما أؤمن به وربيّت عليه الناس من عقيده وثبات لله..
حتى أخذت أُصلّي طوال الليل أسال الله الإخلاص والثبات واعتذرت إلى الله ما فعلت ثم يممت وجهي ناحية العدو وقاتلتهم وحدي فترة حتى ولوّا هاربين من أمامي.. فعلمت وقتها أن ما بيني وبين الله هو إيماني وتقواي وليس كتبي ودروسي وعلمي الشرعي. ==== (عز الدين القسام لأحد المجاهدين)
